Hello! I'm Terri Burke. I know how overwhelming it can be to get personal with your brand images.
As an entrepreneur, I hid behind my brand for nearly a decade because I didn’t consider that people buy from individuals they know, like and trust.
As a photographer, I believed that my images could speak for themselves to create demand for what I do and, for too long, I missed the opportunity to share why it matters that I am behind the camera pointed at you.
As a branding expert with over 18 years of advertising experience, I knew better and still I hesitated for far too long to let my personality shine in my own brand.

How can a brand photographer in North Carolina help me get amazing photographs that represent me and my brand?
Simply put, there is a lot more to photography than the click of a button during a photo shoot. The success of any session hinges on the communication and planning long before the camera ever comes out.
Think of me as a moderator who can help you clarify and articulate your goals so you can play a more active role at every stage of the relationship with your photographer.
Shouldn't my local photographer lead any planning that is needed for my session?
In theory, yes. In reality, it depends a lot on your market. Most photographers are small business owners doing their best to figure out how to serve their community and support their families.
Many photographers have the skills to make a quality image, but often do not understand the unique creative and legal needs that distinguish an online entrepreneur from wedding/family or commercial clients.
Can't I just find everything I need to know to prepare for my session by searching Google, YouTube or Pinterest?
Sure, you can search and find a lot of free content and, if you can recognize it, some of it will even be valuable. It's more likely you'll find much of the information will be confusing and the advice will be conflicting.
Or you can take the shortcut I'm providing with curated information based on my experienced perspective AND the opportunity to engage with other entrepreneurs grappling with similar challenges.
What if there aren't any brand photographers in my area?
It may be little consolation, but you are not alone. I heard this lament so often while networking that I started to think differently about how I could share my expertise (which led me to create this guide!).
Personal brand photography is an emerging specialty within the photography world. Consider yourself lucky if can find one in your area that you are excited to collaborate with.
You may need to be very proactive and guide your local portrait photographer to get the brand images you can want. This guide was designed to help you!
Would this guide help me if I can't afford a professional photographer right now?
If you have a friend or family member to help you, this guide is a great place to start. It will walk you through many of the things you should consider as you work together to plan a session.
And you can revisit the materials when you are ready to find a professional photographer.
